Students are taught terminology, legislation, consequences and implications of inadequate cyber security measures, including threat modelling and the behaviours and effects of malicious software. How to reduce and/or eliminate a cyber security vulnerability and how to apply a cyber security control, and incident response plans. How to carry out a cyber security incident postmortem, and what behaviours and skills are expected within cyber security working environment. Information, advice and guidance: A career in cyber security can be amazing! There are more positions than candidates with the right skills, the sector is very valuable to the country and there is huge scope for career development but there is, of course, a reason for this. The sector is highly technical and it takes dedication to study, learn and achieve the qualifications needed. This level 3 course has the equivalent assessment standard as an A-Level, but it is technically intensive, relying on numeracy, logic, communication skills and a reasonable understanding of computing. • You are 19 or over and don’t have a level 3 qualification, or; • You have a full level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed or earn below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319 from April 2023). There may be other criteria that need to be taken into consideration but, in the main, the above is a good guide as to your eligibility.
